The Funds for Freedom (FFF)
A fundraising project established in 2011 by the Women’s Council for Domestic & Family Violence Services (WA). FFF aims to help women leaving a refuge to re-establish a new home for themselves and their children by assisting in the purchase of a fridge, a washing machine, or small security items. Applications need to be completed by a Women’s Refuge who is a financial member of Women’s Council.
Women and children often leave without any resources to start a new life and this can be a reason why they feel compelled to return to a violent partner. Although FFF is currently only able to assist in one area, it does reduce the financial stress for these women and give them a sense of economic independence.
Through the generous support of individuals and community groups, we have been able to maintain the Funds for Freedom Project and help 287 women since 2012.
In 2018 the Water Corporation joined us a Major Supporter for the next 3 years. This has enabled us to keep FFF open all through the year when previously we would need to close off applications while we fundraised.
Please help us to continue to provide this much needed support. Your donation makes a real difference.
